Incident free, pretty much, making decent progress from Bobcaygeon to Lakefield, another 38 miles (which, Theyre pointed out, could be done in less than an hour by car!). We are sadly hampered by the lock opening and closing hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. which prevents us from using the long summer evenings to make more progress. Peter still hurting from yesterday's accident - might be a cracked rib - and Capt Carl has ordered him to rest. This has not stopped him from preparing lunch although locking and docking/undocking operations are all handled by Carl and Theyre.
We transited five locks today including one called Lovesick Lock and went through the usual beautiful scenery. Weeds are a continuing problem giving Carl at least one swim per day - what a man!
We took on diesel at Buckhorn from a buxom blonde running the fuelling dock and, later with Theyre at the helm, we missed our intended night stop at Lakefield, bypassing the marina and going all the way to the lock which, of course was closed. We turned around but had a tough time getting on the berth at Lakefield Marina because of the strong winds and river currents - but managed it successfully on the third attempt.
Off to the Laundromat as first priority and then to town for drinks and dinner at "The Thirsty Loon" - not great. After updating the blog with journal entries and photos, we turned in for the night.
We expect to make more progress tomorrow because of more favourable lock locations. We will transit eight locks within the first 10 miles and then there is 40 miles until the next lock at Hastings village which will be our target for the next night stop.

Captain's note: Jones is showing his stiff upper-lip military training in downplaying the pain and discomfort he is experiencing with what is almost certainly a cracked rib, refusing to slow us down by seeking medical attention. However, if there is no improvement by Kingston then we will fly the quarantine flag and get him checked out at the hospital there.
